I used bumper pads and never had any problems with them. You know how your daughter sleeps and what’s best for her.

i used bumper pads and i never had any problems. i dont know what the huge deal is. as long as they are not too bulky, i guess so the baby doesnt suffocate?

Everyone is incorrect!!!! I never had a problem with them..place them in there!!!

I have 3 kids and used them for all 3 they are very excellent to have them on the crib,You can buy them at wal-mart or K-mart,Nearly all Department store will have them.Just make sure you tight them tightly so they will not come off and smother your Baby.

I have never used bumper pads. Pretty soon, your 5 month ancient will be getting plenty of bumps and bruises as she learns to crawl and walk. Dont’ worry about it. Unless your baby is a thrasher, you should be fine without any bumpers.

Unless you have her crib propped at a 45 degree angle she isn’t going to hit hard enough to get a concussion or anything. If she is asleep she probably won’t even wake up.

I had people tell me the same thing. Apparently bumpers are a very “american” thing to do and now its coming out they’re perilous, etc.

That said, all three of my kids used bumpers. As soon as they started fooling around with them, I took them out. My oldest started using them as a step stool to climb out of the crib around 10 months, so out they went. My second child would always get an arm tangled in them and once even his head – and this was at 4 months! So out they went. My third child had them in until she left her crib at age 2. She never bothered with them.

If you choose not to use them, don’t worry about your daughter bumping her head on the bars of the crib – by simply rolling over she is not going to hit them hard enough, if at all. The way kids roll she’d be more likely to hit her arm or back. She’ll be fine.

Hope this helps!

Bumper pads sounds like a excellent thought, but first check with your child’s pediatrician.
