Do any stores sell crib bedding separately, not all in a set?

I’ve been reading a lot of studies about how crib bumpers can be perilous, but I’ve looked at Babies R Us, Target and Walmart, and can’t find any separate blankets – they all seem to come in a set including the crib bumpers.

I know that with a new baby, new goods seem special, but have you tried secondhand stores? Consignment shops, Goodwill, hospital/charity resale stores, that sort of thing? And garage sales/yard sales (tough time of year for those, I know) are always loaded with baby stuff.
You can usually buy crib sheets separately which is really all you will need out of a crib set. Your not supposed to use the blankets that come in the crib sets either as they are as perilous as bumper pads. The only thing in a crib should be a fitted sheet and the baby. If it is cold you can place the baby in a sleep sack or a swaddle blanket, but huge loose blankets are not recommended.
You can buy crib sheets and mattress covers separately and to be honest . . . that is all you need.
You can buy receiving blankets or swaddle blankets separately or get the swaddle-me sets / sleep sacks. We just swaddled our twins when they were newborns and place them in fleece footed pjs (when it was cold) when they were a bit older. No blankets necessary or recommended.
I wish we did not buy the crib sets! Our twins are now 2 1/2 and moving to toddler beds. We never even used the blanket or bumpers that came in the set. We will probably use the blankets with their toddler beds, but they make toddler bed sets with longer blankets so we will probably end up purchasing that.
Best wishes & congrats!
